Program Description:

BCIT’s Broadcast and Online Journalism is a two-year program which prepares students for a range of journalism careers.  From the first day students work as hands-on journalists, creating content for our FM radio station, television news magazine show and our website bcitnews.ca.  In addition to basic journalism instruction, the curriculum also includes media law, website design, advanced journalism, video journalism, audio and video documentary production, photojournalism and media entrepreneurship.

Students are connected in first year with our industry partners who represent major news, sports and communication companies in BC.  Second year students work in industry for a minimum of 12 weeks in positions across Canada and around the world. Our connection with industry and our hands-on approach gives students a major advantage in finding jobs and advancing their careers.
