Program Description:
Kwantlen Polytechnic University’s award-winning faculty brings real-world experience in digital journalism into the classroom. And KPU’s graduates work for some of the leading news organizations, including The Globe and Mail, CBC, local community newspapers and The Huffington Post.
KPU’s Bachelor of Journalism and Minor in Journalism programs feature the full range of journalism possibilities, including narrative, interactivity, data, audio and video, at introductory and advanced levels.
Courses range from Multimedia Storytelling to Data Visualization and from Narrative Nonfiction to Visual Journalism. As well as teaching in-demand skills, we offer students an in-depth education in why journalism matters, how modern media works and how they can create a rewarding career in the field.
As well, our Communication Studies courses explore the many ways media affect our lives, and how to sort through the constant stream of information that bombards us. The courses also help prepare students for graduate-level studies.
Students who earn the Bachelor of Journalism, or who take our courses as electives while studying another major, get valuable transferable skills that can be put to use in many fields, including using social media and research skills in a professional setting.
