Program Description:
In the Bachelor of Communication Studies program, you major in journalism or professional communication. Your degree prepares you for a strategic role in business, traditional and new media, not-for-profit and public sector organizations—wherever clear, correct and effective messages are valued. Guided by faculty who are working in the interdisciplinary and evolving fields of journalism and professional communication, you learn how to deliver clear and compelling messages using a variety of media.
As a professional news journalist, you investigate ideas and uncover the truth. In this major, you prepare for the journalism industry, learning in-depth writing, research and reporting skills. The major in Journalism provides you with a set of integrative skills that include writing, research and reporting skills. Option courses let you specialize based on your interests: online digital storytelling, arts and culture reporting, feature writing, current affairs reporting, investigative reporting, and film/radio documentary production.
