Program Description:
The University of Toronto Scarborough Campus offers a joint program of study with Centennial College – a mixture of the essentials of both the academic and practical applications in a digital world. It is a 4-5 year program and includes a four-month internship with a media organization in the Toronto area. The first two years are at the Scarborough Campus of the University of Toronto in the Department of Arts, Culture and Media. The concentration is on writing, critical thinking about journalism and news literacy. The next three semesters are held at Centennial College in downtown Toronto. The skillsets necessary for a career in journalism, media and communication are taught in a newsroom environment. Students produce newscasts, podcasts, video and community news in all platforms. Successful completion of the program will give the graduates an Honours B.A. in Journalism from the University of Toronto and a Diploma in Journalism from Centennial College.
The UTSC Media Studies program also offers a stream concentrating in Journalism along with Media and Digital Cultures.
