J-Source.ca is supported by J-Schools Canada/Écoles-J Canada, along with a group of benefactors including news organizations, foundations, labour organizations and others who believe in excellence in journalism and its strong and vital future.
The financial support we provide includes the following benefits for our members on the J-Source website:
- A spotlight on journalism education for faculty and students, featuring debate, discussion and contributions from J-Schools Canada/Écoles-J Canada member instructors on issues they face, ideas they are trying, and challenges they have overcome.
- A publishing platform for member students, enabling students attending the programs of member organizations to showcase their work to an audience of journalists, media managers, communications professionals and other future employers. J-Source offers paid opportunities to member students who produce stories on education, journalism and other industry issues that reflect the range of views across the country.
- A publishing platform for cutting edge research, showcasing the Open Access peer-reviewed research journal, Facts and Frictions: Emerging Debates, Pedagogies and Practices in Contemporary Journalism. Facts and Frictions is a J-Schools Canada/Écoles-J Canada publication, posted on the J-Source website.
Founded in 2007, J-Source’s goal is to promote national discussion about journalism as well as providing a source for news, research, commentary, advice and resources for industry professionals, scholars and students.
Individuals can support its work by donating to J-Source on Carleton’s Futurefunder.
